Nahuel
Nahuel is the mountain lion in the Mapuche language. The Mapuche are the indigenous
people of the Patagonia area, most specifically the Andes Mountains. We first came to the
name Nahuel from a lake that one of the owners, Walter Pecile, once lived near when he
was a much younger man. The Nahuel Huapi which translates to eye of the tiger
(puma/mountain lion) is a gorgeous lake within the Patagonia region.
We shortened the name to Nahuel because we believed the mountain lion a strong and
independent animal that really represented our personalities. Besides, a label with a big
eyeball on it was probably not all too marketable. After some serious design help to make
our ideas a reality, Nahuel was born.

Nahuel - The forming of a wine brand.
Nahuel is PW&I's own label that represents some of the best wine values that Argentina
has to offer. Nahuel was formed by first interviewing over 30 bodegas in Mendoza and
selecting 8 of those for taste tests in the US. North Hampton Wines in Greenville, SC was
charitable enough to hold a wine tasting for local sommeliers and wine professionals.
From that set, 3 wines have been selected to be imported into the US on the Nahuel label.
Nahuel was first offered into the marketplace in August 2007 with a Malbec, a reserve
Malbec, and a Pinot Noir. For pictures of Nahuel's first production runs, click here.

Ulmen
The first product on the Ulmen line being introduced to the US market is Malbec Dulce
2007. This sweet red wine can be served at room temperature or can be chilled for a treat
on a hot summer day. We are very excited about bringing this unique wine to the US market.
Additional information on the winery can be found on Bodega y Vinedos Argentia 's website.
Estirpe Tonbert

is the second largest grape production in Argentina and the grape is also known in the US as
Charbona. Additional information on the winery can be found here.
